    • plan going forward:
      • major patch #1 (bugs, apis, etc) goes into 5.8/master
      • major patch #2 containing cmake support goes into a branch coming off of master to test
      • will decide in the future about when to merge back

    • robert's proposed checking script (if not approved by now)
    • White space -- enforce no tabs policy, etc?
  • what about moving to C99 (proposed by Magnus)
    • decided to bundle with the cmake tree
