Template:FAQ:Agent 37
From Net-SNMP Wiki
Some operating systems will provide a mechanism for determining the speed and type of network interfaces, but many do not. In such cases, the agent attempts to guess the most appropriate values, usually based on the name of the interface.
The snmpd.conf
directive 'interface'
allows you to override these
guessed values, and provide alternative values for the name, type
and speed of a particular interface. This is particularly useful
for fast-ethernet, or dial-up interfaces, where the speed cannot be
guessed from the name.
See the snmpd.conf(5)
man page for details.
