Mib2c complains about not having a "valid OID" - what does this mean?
This probably means that you gave it the name of a MIB file (or module), rather than the name of an object defined in that file. Mib2c expects the name of a 'root' object, and will generate a template for the sub-tree starting from there.
If you've got a file 'MY-MIB.txt'
, defining the MIB module
'MY-MIB'
which contains a subtree based on the object 'myMib'
,
then you should invoke mib2c as
"mib2c .... myMib"
rather than
"mib2c .... MY-MIB.txt"
or
"mib2c .... MY-MIB"
Note that you'll probably also have to add your MIB to the list of MIBs that are loaded automatically, in order for mib2c to recognise the name of this object. So the command would typically be
"MIBS=+MY-MIB mib2c .... myMib"
or
"MIBS=ALL mib2c .... myMib"
